The meeting was to be informal and the chairman invited those present to present items for discussion. Items discussed. 1. Master’s Class. This class was discussed at council meeting. It is IWSF policy that this class be part of the Masters Games. 2. F1 Class. Concern was expressed by Belgian & GB representatives at direction F1 is heading. It is becoming too expensive. Boat size and motor power have made it cost prohibitive for most competitors. Every Championship the boats get bigger, heavier and have more powerful engines. It was explained that EAME had voted for increase in motor size. Greg Houston (Australia) suggested we leave F1 motor size as is and if there are insufficient competitors it will phase itself out. 3. Boat Size Rule. Wayne Harvey (GB) asked when and if rule would be changed or clarified. Peter Bertels asked why the boats were allowed to compete if they did not comply with the rule. Glen Coles explained the situation re the boats. The scrutineer had measured the boats and informed the Chief Judge that several boats did not conform. EAME then wrote a letter to the council and on consideration the council decided to allow the boats to compete at this championship. A letter was written to Team Captains of GB, Belgium & Australia naming the Bernico Race Boats which had failed scrutineering and informing them that the Chief Judge and EAME Racing Council had requested the council to make a decision on the eligibility of the boats to compete in the 2009 Ski Racing World Championships. The council decision was: The boats may compete in the 2009 Ski Racing World Championships. They cannot enter another World Championships in their present format. They must be re-measured before further entry. They must comply with the current IWSF Racing rules at the date of further inspection. Dusty Schulz then explained that he had had a meeting with Nico Bertels and Jules Leyshen. Nico has made suggestions re the rules and other boat manufacturers will be given the opportunity for input. They will be given 90 days to respond. Dusty explained why immediate changes could not be made. 4. Helmets. Questions were asked re the colour of helmets and the compliance with the rule by helmets with stripes and advertising. It was resolved that regions investigate the availability and colour number of fluorescent orange paint. It was generally agreed the rule should be simple and strictly enforced. 5. F2 Inspection. Austrian representative asked if inspection will be done after the last race and if all boats would be checked. Greg Dutton & Emma Duckworth (NZ) expressed surprise that the boats were not being scrutinised according to the rule book. Greg Houston (Australia) said rules should not be changed on the run. F2 is a controlled class and should be scrutinised according to the rule book. After discussion on computer checking it was resolved that we must maintain control and Dusty Schulz has assigned Greg Dutton the role of checking all technical data to keep track of F2 engines. Emma Duckworth drew attention to rule 5:34 and Glen Coles stated that we expected the same scrutinizing as carried out in New Zealand. Mike King (USA) added that ropes had not been checked. 6. It was generally agreed that the procedures and rules for conducting a championship should be clearly defined and that organisers should follow procedures set in rule book. The first step is to all use the same rules. Thea Klarenbeek (NED) said we should all race to world rules. There should be one overall judges test. It was suggested the Council should be policing rules and procedures, and generally agreed that the rules should be enforced. 7. The meeting was informed that the 2011 Championships would be held in Australia. (possibly October). 8. Dusty Schulz then outlined the list of projects in place for members of the council. The chairman thanked the competitors for their attendance and closed the meeting. Meryl Lee Secretary General [zurück...] |
